On my journey of peace the last year or so one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is you can’t take everyone with you. We tend to forget Harriett left many behind and while I am specifically speaking of race in this instance, it applies to so many relationships, ideals, mindsets, situations, and workspaces. For years we’ve as black people tended to want to keep OUR black business to ourselves but I don’t care what color you are when you are wrong you’re getting called out. However, I choose to no longer attempt explanation as to why your thinking is problematic or harmful to MY community which baby is NOT a monolith and I will shout that FACT until my dying breath.
Good for YOU that you’ve never experienced racism, but what the hell does that have to do with its EXISTENCE?!? Good for you that the white people you’ve always been around aren’t that way, shoot I would have vouched for MANY I grew up with, worked with, HUNG OUT WITH just a few years ago!! And guess what? I’ve been slowly deleting a great deal of them since 2020. What’s that quote say…”It’s not you I don’t trust darling. It’s your private thoughts, that give me pause.” But, but, but, black on black CRIME…FULL STOP, miss me big time with that. For the 1000th and hopefully last time, 2 things can be true at once and I can fight for multiple causes at the same time. By the way, ANYONE can be used to further the harm white supremacy systems have and continue to perpetuate…and some of you are playing your parts VERY WELL!
Go message Ruby Bridges and let me know her response about how much things have changed in America, THEN we can have an honest conversation…or not cause Google is free and so is my MIND finally. Also if for one second it crossed your mind to think, well leave…please explain why? This is MY home. Do you not attempt renovations and repairs to your physical home when necessary? Or do you just “go somewhere else”? Just like all white folk aren’t bad, all skinfolk ain’t kinfolk. And iykyk!!! Finally, STOP waiting to be comfortable speaking about things that don’t affect you or someone you know, it shouldn’t take hitting close to home to make you give a damn about SOMETHING!!!
