Supporting two causes simultaneously…let’s talk about it

As a community, African Americans have many things that tie us together and make us relate on levels no other race could. That being said we don’t all have the same experiences and it bothers me that if anything bad or concerning happens in our community we’ve always ALL been judged by it…even circumstances we didn’t create. Not all of us were raised in single parent homes. And not all of us that were raised by just our mom or dad ended up in jail, a gang, or on drugs. We’re not all on government assistance and not all that are, are scamming the system. And guess what we’re not all out here killing each other either! But we are out here making moves to pull our brothers and sisters that are out of that life contrary to what the media will show you. There are over 100 Historically black colleges and universities in the United States. Just think about how many students that means are getting their degrees or have received degrees over the years, not to mention those who attend PWI’s. We’re out here starting and running businesses, heading companies, and making countless other moves all while being discriminated against. Yet when we dare seek to shine a light on injustices it’s always well you need to worry about the violence in your own community first…you know black on black crime. I will NEVER be ok with anyone using this term. Crime is crime. Anyway it is ludicrous to me that someone would think you have to accept ill treatment from one group of people because you as a people mistreat each other. You can seek to do something about both at the same time, which is what many of us are trying to do. Yet when we begin to do better, and become better you know “pull ourselves up by our bootstraps” history will show you people get nervous and wipe us and our progress out (Black Wall Street, Rosewood, Seneca Village) Now these United States of America that will claim it isn’t a racist country is just finding new ways to covertly stop us in our tracks. So please spare me from this day forward the rhetoric that we as a people need to stop killing each other before we try to tell police to and that goes for anyone of any color saying it. Do your part for equality and civil rights or frankly shut up about it cause there’s still much to be done.
